FUNCTION:
To assist the classroom teachers and building principals in the coordination and operation of the library and media services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Check books in and out of media center;
- Keep media center in neat order;
- Shelve books and periodicals in their proper locations in the library/media center;
- Operate equipment (copier, overhead projector, computer, interactive white board, document camera, etc.) necessary to functioning of the library/media center;
- Manage check-in/check-out and set up of media equipment (overhead projector, computer, microphone, etc.) necessary to functioning of school events;
- Clerical and record keeping tasks necessary to support the library/media center;
- Generate and distribute over-due notices to students and/or staff;
- Repair books and periodicals in need of repair;
- Supervise students in the library/media center and throughout the school setting;
- Keep student information confidential;
- Assemble orders for supplies and books necessary for the proper functioning of the library/media center;
- Possess an upbeat positive attitude;
- Develop positive working relationships with students and staff;
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required;
AA degree, two years of full-time college or a passing grade on the paraprofessional exam;
One year or more of experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Possess and maintain a valid first aid card.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment may vary from quiet to loud at standard acceptable levels for a school environment. The employee is continuously responsible for the safety and well being of students.
SCHEDULE:
30 hours per week (.75 fte), Contact Charlene Herron for specific daily schedule.
This position will be posted until May 30, 2017 at minimum or until filled.
