Position:
High School Migrant Summer School Student Success Navigator- Temporary- One Position
Function:
* To work with Migrant Education, in conjunction with the 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) summer school program, to provide support that empowers students to successfully complete their educational objectives from credit recovery to college coursework.
* To perform various activities in outreach, admissions, registration, retention, student success planning, and academic advising while working with Migrant students in grades 9-12 from Klamath Falls City Schools.
* Act as a liaison between Klamath Community College Faculty, Migrant Education, and the 21st CCLC Program.
* Assist students as they get on the bus from KLC to KCC
* Assure that students go to assigned classes
* Check-in and check-out with each student at KCC
* Contacts families about attendance
* Coordinate all text books and the purchase of lab fees
* Ensure that all credits are awarded and verified at KUHS in the Registrars Office upon completion of courses.
* Work one-on-one, or in small group settings, for homework support in the afternoons at KCC in a set location.
* Coordinate with the 21st CCLC Student Success Navigator. Divide responsiblities (text book purchasing etc. Walk through registration forms during parent tour. All migrant responsiblities.
* Enter all required data for Migrant Coordinator
Requirements:
* Bilingual in Spanish and English
* High school graduate
* Fluent in oral and written communication in English
* Excellent skills in interpersonal communications and trouble-shooting
* Ability to work effectively with a variety of people
* Flexible thinker
* Demonstrate understanding of issues confronting Migrant students
* Ability to self-direct and prioritize with minimal direction
* Proficient computer word processing and data entry skills (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Excel, Word, etc.)
Salary:
$14.99/hour
Four hours per day for 24 days from June 19-July 27
Twenty additional hours for various activities in outreach, admissions, registration, retention, student success planning, and academic advising while working with Migrant students in grades 9-12 from Klamath Falls City Schools. As well as data entry and submission for attendance, pre- and post-assessment data and proof of credit.
